According to UNICEF, Viet Nam has made impressive advancements in reproductive health and maternal child care1. “With a four-fold reduction in maternal mortality and a dramatic halving of under-5 mortality in recent decades, Viet Nam’s maternal child health indicators compare favorably with other countries with similar average incomes per capita.”
However, awareness about reproductive health among young women, especially busy working women, still tends to be downplayed. Gynecology checkup is considered inconvenient, with many young women trying to avoid it all together. With 99% of preschool teachers in Vietnam being women and given their busy work routine, it is important that the gynecology checkup is accessible and made convenient to them. This is the underlying thinking of the team at KidsOnline when considering a Women’s Day gift to female teachers and administrators of KidsOnline’s partner kindergartens. We approached the SBB Clinic in Hanoi who has experienced, reputable gynecologists on their team to design a free gynaecology checkup program for preschool teachers.
With this program, using a KidsOnline-SBB Clinic voucher, 2,000 preschool teachers in Hanoi area can schedule free gynecology checkup at SBB during the month of March 2023. The team of obstetrics and gynecology at SBB Clinic also provides personalized advice about women’s health to the teachers. KidsOnline and SBB Clinic team hope to expand this program to benefit more female preschool teachers in the coming years.
