JULES Corporation (Singapore) partners with KidsOnline (Vietnam) to roll-out its Digital Literacy Course, “School of Fish” Computational Thinking Curriculum to 10,000 children in Vietnam’s less-privileged communities.
After successfully launching Singapore’s 1st Digital Literacy curriculum for pre-school and impacting over 2,500 children, JULES Corporation Pte Ltd. (“JULES”) has committed to deploying its ground-breaking Digital Literacy course to 10,000 less-privileged children in Vietnam over the next three years. This announcement comes ahead of JULES invitation as one of ASEAN’s selected innovative startups to participate at the World Economic Forum on ASEAN in Hanoi, Vietnam from 11 – 13 September 2018.
A Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) between JULES and KidsOnline, one of Vietnam’s leading cloud-based, low-cost kindergarten management system companies was signed on 10 September 2018. Through this partnership, JULES & KidsOnline will jointly develop and promote localized Computational Thinking and pre-coding programs for preschool children in Vietnam.
Under this Agreement, JULES will adapt its School of Fish (“SOF”) Computational Thinking Curriculum for Vietnam’s mass-market, waiving the licensing fees for its software and Curriculum and provide initial training of lead teacher trainers, who will be assisting in propagating the Curriculum locally. KidsOnline will invest in the localization of the SOF Curriculum, establish teaching and support teams, seek sponsors for hardware and system needs and develop partnerships with organizations such as UNICEF Vietnam for publicity and outreach.
“JULES believes that education is a basic right, regardless of one’s socio-economic background. Together with KidsOnline, we are confident that our pioneering Digital Literacy and Pre-coding Curriculum will teach children in Vietnam the essential skills that will prepare them for the digital future with confidence and purpose. We hope to extend this model to the rest of ASEAN countries in the near future”, said Mr Jonathan Chan, Founder and CEO of JULES.
“When it comes to preparing our young children for the digital future, KidsOnline and JULES speak the same language. With KidsOnline making it easy for hundreds of kindergartens all over Vietnam to adopt technology in their daily operation and school-parent communication, it is a logical next step for us to bring cutting-edge, age-relevant educational contents like the Computational Thinking Curriculum to teachers, parents and children of these kindergartens and beyond. We look forward to working hand in hand with JULES and with the innovative Vietnamese teachers to add Vietnam to the Computational Thinking’s regional footprints in the coming months”, said Mr Le Huy Long, co-founder and CEO of KidsOnline.
